The Red Sea has a reputation for being one of the most fascinating dive sites on the planet. Its combination of underwater wonders, history, and the exotic and intriguing Arabic culture makes the Red Sea an essential stop for divers around the world.
It was Jacques Cousteau who so aptly described the Red Sea as "the corridor of the marvels".
Based in Sharm El Sheikh, the northern route offers a selection of the best dives in the whole of the Red Sea. From the richness of the reef of Ras Muhammad to the strait of Tiran, where the reef walls drop 60 metres before heading down into the deep blue sea or mythical wrecks such as the Dunraven or Thistlegorm, a famous British cargo ship that rests in the sandy depths at around 28 metres and is a meeting point for glassfish and enormous groupers.
The night dive comes highly recommended. An endless list of fauna can be found here: starfish, crabs, nudibranchs, common brittle-stars, and basket starfish, which open out their arms in the current and react to our lights by curling up. Parrot fish sleep in their cocoons, masking their scent from predators.
