At the end of 2005, we decided to organise the Maldives trip that had been postponed in 2004 – and we were right to do so! The tragic events of the tsunami nearly made us reconsider and cancel it again, but we eventually decided to go ahead with it.
The trip was FANTASTIC and UNBEATABLE. Words cannot describe the beauty of the islands and the wonders of their seafloors.
We dived among banks of rock grunters, giant horse mackerel, whitetip reef sharks, grey reef sharks, turtles, morays, all manner of reef fish and... schools of over 20 manta rays carrying out their majestic cleaning ritual that would leave any human being absolutely flabbergasted...
To top it all off, we were lucky enough to spot a whale shark and enjoy its company for over an hour! And as if all this weren’t enough, a 2-metre long sailfish came to visit us during a decompression stop!
This striking setting was made all the better by the professional care of Marc and Marilen, the two people in charge of the Maldives cruiser, and the excellent interaction between the group of divers, now friends...
It would be difficult to forget this trip, but the images and emotions we experienced will stay with us and are urging us to go back as soon as we can.
